So long, NICU; hello, room down the hall. Laura is now ensconced in a regular hospital room with room for her iPod. It's room 4104. Much closer to the parking structure. There are 80 staples all down her back. She walked several steps unassisted, holding on to one of those i.v. thingies.
Wednesday Aug. 12 is Laura's birthday and she's spending it right here in the Wolverine Hilton. I'm hoping that by then she'll be able to eat cake. If you're so inclined, send her a card:

So glad things are coming along. Continued prays and hugs to Laura and her immediate cheering squad. Slow moving I'm sure, but improvement each day. Always something to smile about. The best thing about surgical pain.... it eventually goes away.

So glad to hear so many good things! Does Laura's progress surprise me? Not at all, I'd expect nothing less from the woman who helped me become who I am today. Now she is just using her healing powers on herself.
ReplyDeleteTell her, for me, that she just needs to listen to her internal cheerleader and NOT get discouraged when improvements look small. Next year at this time she'll be out and about and hardly remembering this.
Give her my love.
Kathy
Sounds like remarkable progress on so many fronts - - to be taking some steps - - to have the before and after x-rays revealing profound changes for the better - - to be noticeably straighter and taller - - may the good results and powerful healing and Laura's wonderful spirit continue. Marty - - I'm sure your presence and your serving as a conduit between Laura and her family and friends is playing a major positive role in all of this.
